Using Stage TEN to send an RTMP stream to your YouTube Live Event will allow you to stream to a different YouTube channel than the one connected to your Stage TEN account, which can be useful if the channel owner doesn't want to share their credentials with you.
With RTMP you can also start, stop, and restart your stream in Stage TEN, all while maintaining your live broadcast on YouTube.
Follow the instructions to create a scheduled livestream.
Go to youtube.com/livestreaming, click Manage and find your stream. Click on your stream name.
Under Stream Settings > Stream key, use the pull down to open the menu and click Create new stream key.
Add a name and description for your new stream key, then click Create.
Your new stream key should now be selected. If it isn't, use the pull down menu and select it.
This is where you get the Stream URL and Stream key from YouTube, which you'll need in order to create the RTMP destination in your Stage TEN account.
In the Stage TEN Pro Studio, click Settings > Destinations > RTMP > ADD and then paste in the URL and Stream Key. Give your destination a name then click Save.
An RTMP destination will be added in the studio. Once you turn on the toggle, Stage TEN will send the stream to YouTube but you won't be live yet.
Once you've toggled on your RTMP Destination the stream will be sent to YouTube but you won't be live yet. You'll need to use the YouTube studio (where you found your RTMP key & URL) to begin and finish your stream.
In the Pro Studio, toggle on the RTMP destination.
Go to the YouTube studio. After a few seconds, you'll see your stream. Click GO LIVE.
If you stop streaming for any reason (internet fails, computer runs out of power, chrome crashes) you will not lose your broadcast. You can simply start streaming again from Stage TEN.
Click END STREAM in the Youtube Studio.
Toggle off the RTMP destination in Stage TEN.
