Recommended OBS and RTMP Settings for Use With Stage TEN
How to set up your OBS and RTMP settings when sending a feed to Stage TEN.
Tip: To see the Ingest URL and Stream Key you need to send a feed to Stage TEN, you can open an Invite Link. These are visible in the participant interface.
Choosing quality settings is about trade-offs.
Below are the recommended settings for sending OBS feeds into Stage TEN. These settings are designed to limit latency while still retaining high video quality.
Key Recommendations
Stage TEN recommends feeding video at a resolution of 1280x720 (720p) for most users, though higher resolutions won't be rejected. 1080p feeds and higher are more likely to incur frame drops and run into performance limits, and these negative effects often outweigh the benefit of a sharper image.
A bitrate of 2000 Kbps (2Gbps) is recommended, as it offers a balance of low-latency and video quality. If you have a weak internet connection, reducing to 600 Kbps or 1200 Kbps is recommended to achieve a smoother stream. There is no enforced upper limit, but higher than 3500 Kbps is not recommended.
Users with very fast computers and slow internet connections may wish to choose an alternative CPU Usage Preset to increase video quality. Medium or Fast are recommended options in such cases.
It is strongly recommended that all performers and studio users use a wired Internet connection and not a wireless connection. Further, for greatest reliability and stability, we recommend using a fibre optic-based Internet connection over DSL or cable. See more about device and internet requirements.
