First, make sure you've read the Ensure your Computer and Internet meet Minimum Requirements.
If you have are experiencing performance issues despite following best practices, follow these steps to help improve the quality of your broadcast.
Some computers have two graphics cards (one integrated, and one discrete), and switch between the two to optimize power consumption.
This can reduce your computer's capacity for intensive tasks such as livestreaming.
Stage TEN recommends turning off the “Automatic graphics switching” setting for both the Battery and Power Adapter to ensure that Chrome is always using your highest performance GPU
Check out this support article from Apple. Here they walk you through changing your graphics switching settings so that your computer uses one graphics card instead of two
Chrome may not have access to the superior processing of your computer's hardware.
You want to enable hardware acceleration in Chrome.
In Google Chrome, click the three dots in the top right corner.
Select Settings.
On the left, click System.
Toggle on Use hardware acceleration when available.
Tip: If hardware acceleration is already enabled, try experimenting with the setting off. In some rare cases, a video card driver can cause problems; using software to process the video can avoid a hardware issue.
Mismatched resolutions will use additional CPU to convert the video to your selected output resolution. If possible, configure your camera to produce video with the recommended settings:
Resolution: 1280x720
Frame rate: 30 FPS
Quality: Medium, or about 80% (depending on your control)
If you're still experiencing poor quality broadcasts, you may require a computer with a discrete video card for using Stage TEN for high quality live streaming.
