Streaming to Instagram

How to Livestream to Instagram from your Computer using RTMP and a Stream Key.

Important: You must switch to a Professional Instagram Account before you can use 3rd party streaming software.

Important: If you want Instagram to record your stream, you need to enable the Live Archive on your Instagram Account before you go live. This doesn't affect your Stage TEN recording or Interactive Replay.

You can livestream to Instagram using RTMP. Use the Instagram Live Producer to obtain a stream key and server , then use those to create a destination in the Pro Studio.

To learn more about the Instagram Live Producer, consult their documentation.

  1. Open Instagram on desktop. Click Create and select Live video from the dropdown menu.

  1. Enter the title of your Live and select your audience. Copy the Stream URL and Stream key for your Live.

Do NOT close this pop-up, even after you've obtained your stream key. Closing this will invalidate your Stream key and cause your stream to fail.

  1. In the Stage TEN Pro Studio, go to Settings > Destinations.

  2. Choose RTMP, and click ADD to configure your new Instagram destination.

  3. Add a Name label for this destination, such as "Instagram". Paste the and you obtained in Instagram.

  1. When you are ready to go live to Instagram, toggle on your Instagram Destination. Then when the preview appears, click Go Live in the Instagram Live Producer.

You are now live on Instagram. Use the Instagram Live Producer window to monitor chat messages from Instagram viewers, or check the Event Log.

Ending your stream

1. Click End live video in Instagram Live Producer to end your broadcast.

Note: If you end your stream in the Stage TEN Pro Studio before you end your Live Producer broadcast, the Live will continue while displaying the last frame received from the Stage TEN Pro Studio until you click End Live in Instagram Live Producer
